Do you know why College Station, Texas (Aggieland) and Texas A&M University are so special? What do you tell people when they ask? I know trying to convey just SOME of the many wonderful things about Aggieland is difficult so when I ran across this YouTube video I knew I had to share it.
Take just a few minutes to learn about our community (or refersh your memory). Bryan and College Station are special towns working together along side Texas A&M University and Blinn College. June 29th, 2008 Categories: Buying Real Estate
Ready to go look for a new home? Before you go out to look your real estate will (should) ask you these questions. They should be asked for several reasons. They should be asked for the safety and security of the seller AND the agent!
- Have you talked with a lender yet and are you pre-qualified to purchase?
- Do you need to sell your current property before you buy another?
- If you are leasing, when will your lease be up?

June 28th, 2008 Categories: Where Am I?
So it appears we have a lighthouse in the Brazos Valley -
Is it in Bryan? Maybe College Station? Maybe Hearne or Caldwell or Anderson or Mumford…. who knows? Do you?
Be the first person to post specificially where this lighthouse is located and forever be known as “Bright”.

Fire Ants – Have They Taken Over?
June 27th, 2008 Categories: Home Improvement & Design
Have fire ants taken over your life? Are they mounding in your yard? Have they taken over your electrical box, sprinkler box or water well box? Where are they?
There are a few ideas outside the normal box of ant killer. Which ones really work? Which ones are just old wives tales? Remember whatever you choose (that works) keep it up! All mounds must be removed or they will re-infest the area in less than a year. Don’t let them win!
- Lye – melt 1/2 bar of lye soap in 5 gallons of water. Pour in a circle around the mound so they can’t escape then stir them up and pour the remainder over the mound and drench them well. They should die instantly. Be careful though – wear rubber gloves, protect your eyes and skin since it can cause extreme burns.
- Corn Meal – Feed them a cup or two of corn meal and they will take it into the mound. Not sure what happens when they get it in there but supposedly it will kill them.
- Boiling water – Pour boiling water on the mound. Remember if the queen doesn’t die the mound won’t either. It takes gallons of boiling water to make this work.
- Drowning – dig up the mound and put into a large bucket filled with hot soapy water and let sit for 24 hours. Be careful – they may get you first.
- Gasoline – Sorry but pouring gasoline on the mound poses a risk to ground and surface water through contamination. And you have to watch for the fires… pass on this one.
- Grits – supposedly the ants will eat the grits and then the grits will expand inside the ants and they will explode. Sure…
- Rice – this one won’t work either.
- Moth balls – put a handful or two in the control box. These should last a year or so. Be careful! Moth balls give off a vapor that may not kill the ants but should make them want to stay away. Don’t inhale!
Which ever method you choose (personally I would just hire one of the Century 21 Connections Partners) be careful and use at your own risk. Every method above could cause damage or injury…
