Internet Safety Forum with the City of Bryan Police Department April 30, 2009

bryanpoliceCity of Bryan Police Department Internet Safety Forum

979.209.5322 office      jamesj@bryantx.gov

RSVP ONLY:    Criminal Investigation Division 209-5316 (RSVP required)

Agenda:

The training room will accommodate 45 people.  Those interested in the class will have to RSVP through the Criminal Investigation Division secretary at 979-209-5316.  If the class is full we will hold another forum the following month.  This is for adults only.  Babysitters are NOT provided.  Anyone with questions regarding the forum can contact Detective Chris Loup at 209-5315

The forum is in response to an increase in computer and child related offenses nationwide.  The purpose of the class is to educate parents about the dangers that the internet can create for their children.  Any parent, family member, teacher, preacher, friend, or any other caregiver with children needs to have an understanding of the online world their children are visiting.  That way, when it is necessary to discuss topics like myspace, facebook, online predators, spyware and chat programs, parents are not left blind to the dangers they can present or how to deal with them properly and safely.  Through the expertise Det. Loup and Aneya Elbert attendees will gain the necessary knowledge to address those risks, protect their children and to help make Bryan a safe place for all children.  The City of Bryan and the Bryan Police Department have formed a partnership with the citizens of our community to protect our children and make Bryan the safest city in the Great State of Texas.
